Every Friday I’ll be sharing a photo from someplace in my travels.

This week’s photo is of the three note-issung banks of Hong Kong.

You probably know that Hong Kong is known as one of the largest financial hubs in the world, but what you didn’t probably know is that Hong Kong is unusual. Instead of one central bank issuing notes, Hong Kong’s currency is actually issued from three different commercial banks: HSBC, Standard Chartered and Bank of China.

All of these banks have their own skyscrapers downtown in the financial district Central. They are some of the most well-known skyscrapers in Hong Kong’s skyline, and are conveniently located near each other. From left to right you’ll see Bank of China (my favorite), HSBC and Standard Chartered.

Great post, great info. 3 banks issuing the HKD notes and their skyscrapers are side-by-side.
